The sensational, award winning afro soul singer, Ringo and enchanting crooner Afro’traction kickstart the Road to Joy of Jazz. Ringo, one of South Africa’s most popular male singers, boasts a powerful repertoire featuring many sing-along songs. He is joined by Afro’traction whose performance comes packed with energy promising to get you up and dancing.
 

MARK & DAVE LIVE!
6 APRIL

Dave and Mark, chosen by the public as the top two contestants in M-Net Idols 2011, are set to perform a special one-night set backed by the talented Idols band. Dave van Vuuren is quickly becoming a household name in South Africa after fans voted him as their 2011 Idol. He will be accompanied by Mark Haze, whom he narrowly beat for the Idols crown in the closest vote in Idols history.
 

MR GAY WORLD 2012
8 APRIL

Mr. Gay World is a twenty first century international competition where delegates from around the world represent their nations by embodying the spirit of each nation in their participation over 4 days. The competition culminates in the Grand Finale on 8 April 2012 where the different title holders such as Mr Personality, Best Sport Challenge, Best Charity Participation and the new Mr. Gay World 2012 are crowned. MCs are Cathy Specific and Soli Philander.
 

JOHNNY CLEGG HUMAN
13 – 14 APRIL

During the three decades he’s been making anthemic hits, Johnny has proved himself to be an outstanding musical ambassador for his country and is known for his energetic stage performances. By combining African music structures with Celtic folk music and international rock sounds, Johnny pioneered a new and unique sound, establishing himself as South Africa’s biggest musical export. From Europe to the States, from Australia to Potchefstroom, audiences in sold out venues have danced to "Cruel, Crazy Beautiful World", "Scatterlings of Africa", "I Call Your Name", "Impi", "Great Heart", and "African Sky Blue". Johnny will also be performing songs off his new album HUMAN.
 

CELEBRATION OF SITAR
15 APRIL

A concert of Indian Classical and Folk Music led by the sitar maestro Ustad Shujaat Khan who ranks highly amongst the finest sitarists of his generation. The first half will feature a traditional Indian Classical recital by Ustad Shujaat Khan on sitar accompanied by Yogesh Samsi on tabla. The second half will feature an offering of light classical, folk, ghazal, and sufi renditions (on sitar and vocal) by Ustad Shujaat Khan accompanied by Ajay Prasanna (bansuri / bamboo flute), Amit Choubey (tabla), and Ojas Adhiya (tabla).

The celebrated Sibongile Khumalo is set to bring her rich blend of African indigenous music and jazz to The Lyric Theatre. Known to many as South Africa’s first lady of song, Sibongile Khumalo is part of a musical dynasty marked by an extraordinary vocal gene pool and a passion for making music. She is a singer who exemplifies and crowns the rich and multi-sourced Southern African singing tradition.
